Robber gives up the game for a cup of tea

An armed robber is being quizzed by police in Cesky Tesin, northern Czech Republic after he gave up his attempt to raid a shop after a worker offered him a "nice cup of tea and a piece of cake".

The raider, armed with a gun, stormed the supermarket and demanded that shop assistant Marketa Vachova hand over cash, according to Ananova.

Ms Vachova told the site that she thought he "seemed like a nice young man", even though a Spiderman mask covered the robber's face."I asked him why he was doing this and we got talking," she explained."There was no one else in the shop so I guess he relaxed a bit, and in the end he apologised," continued the 59-year-old.

Ms Vachova then told the man he could have a cup of tea and a slice of cake while they talked, which gave the thief the incentive to give up on his crime.

However, police are still searching for the criminal, and have said he faces ten years in prison for attempted robbery.Last month, 66-year-old grandmother Mary Chamberlain chased and arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of raiding her local KFC in Portland, Oregon.
